The U.S. Embassy in Cairo has learned that direct flights are available Friday, May 29; Monday, June 1; and Wednesday, June 3 from Cairo to Frankfurt, Germany, on Lufthansa (flight LH 583). There are no onward flights to the United States the same day as the scheduled arrivals, but flights might be available the following day. U.S. Citizens and U.S. Legal Permanent Residents taking these flights in order to return to the U.S. must abide by certain Government of Germany regulations outlined below.
Visa holders who wish to take these flights to reach the United States should consult all relevant E.U. and U.S. travel regulations, including the Presidential Proclamation linked at the bottom of this message. The U.S. Embassy in Cairo has no ability to facilitate visa holders who wish to take this flight.
The three flights are all scheduled to depart Cairo International Airport (Terminal 3) at 12:30pm and arrive at Frankfurt at 5:00pm. Booking is only available via the Lufthansa Group Sales and Service Team by telephone:

U.S. citizens are responsible for arranging their own onward travel to the United States from Frankfurt. There are no flights to the United States the same day as the scheduled arrivals but flights might be available the following day on United Airlines, including:

Please note that under current Government of Germany regulations U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs) in transit are subject to the following restrictions:
- Travelers in transit status are not permitted to enter Germany for any period;
- Air transit travelers must remain in the transit terminal until their onward connecting flight;
- Air transit travelers can use the MyCloud transit hotel, located within the airport’s transit zone—limited rooms available.
- Some food services are available in the transit terminal.

The Embassy continues to work with the Egyptian government and foreign Embassy partners to identify or arrange options for U.S. citizens who wish to depart Egypt.
The U.S. Embassy in Cairo continues to collect information from U.S. citizens in order to estimate ongoing demand for flights departing Egypt. If you have already sent us your information, please do not do so again. We will not share your information with any third party without your consent.
