Cairo – At an event marking Global Entrepreneurship Week, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and INJAZ Egypt announced the launch of Startup Egypt, one of the largest entrepreneurship pipelines in the country. Startup Egypt takes a sustainable, long-term approach to entrepreneurship by enrolling enthusiastic and creative graduates between the ages of 21 and 30 from any field of study with minimal business experience, and transforming them into successful entrepreneurs with innovative new businesses that contribute to the national economy and generate jobs.
The Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission Dorothy Shea said “we are proud to partner with INJAZ Egypt in support of this exciting opportunity for young Egyptians to bring their ideas to the marketplace. Through training, mentorship, and networking, Startup Egypt 2019 will get businesses off the ground and support the growth of Egypt’s private sector.”
Founder of INJAZ Dina El Mofty said, “This 8th round of Startup Egypt will begin accepting applications from candidates by mid-November. We are so proud that this program has helped launch 65 startups, and most of them have gone on to create extremely successful businesses locally, regionally and internationally”
The U.S. Embassy in Cairo’s support for this project is part of our long-standing efforts to support the development of Egypt’s economy and our commitment to helping Egyptian entrepreneurs build successful enterprises that support employment and economic growth.
