Today, April 26, 2015 at 4:00 pm (local time), the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation will jointly announce the launch of the U.S.-Egypt Higher Education Initiative (HEI), at the Tahrir Campus of the American University in Cairo. The Launch event will be live streamed on the U.S. Embassy website homepage at http://egypt.usembassy.gov. Through this $250 million Initiative, the U.S. government will provide scholarships and exchanges to 1,900 Egyptian women and men to study in Egypt and America in disciplines critical to Egypt’s economy that will lead to 21st century jobs. The Initiative will include partnerships between up to twenty higher education institutions to strengthen research and exchanges between Egyptian and American universities to improve their competitiveness in the global knowledge-based economy.
