Event:  Train Accident at Ramsis Train Station in Cairo

Further to previous reporting, Egyptian authorities are characterizing the incident at Ramsis train station this morning as an accident.  There are reports of many people dead and injured. Several social media sites carry footage of an apparent runaway train that hit a barrier at the train station. Egypt’s Prime Minister, who visited the station, has called for full accountability amid accounts of negligence. There are no reports of U.S. citizen casualties.
