Message from the Consul General Jeffrey Lodinsky

Greetings from the U.S. Embassy Cairo Consular Section. I want to wish you a happy 2021 and update you on our operations. We have all faced unprecedented challenges this year, but the U.S. Embassy has remained open and the Consular Section has been working hard to provide emergency services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. While we have had to temporarily reduce some services to keep you and our staff safe, we are open.

Supporting American citizens is our number one priority, and we are proud to have continued providing this support throughout the pandemic. Since March 2020, we have helped repatriate more than 700 U.S. citizens and issued thousands of U.S. passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad. We are accepting appointments for passports, notary services, and marriage affidavits and maintaining our special citizen services. If you are a U.S. citizen in Egypt who needs assistance, please review our American Citizen Services page for information on our services and how to get in touch with us.

We are also doing emergency visa appointments and renewals for applicants through the Interview Waiver Program. In fact, since the start of the pandemic we have processed thousands of visa applications. Please visit our Nonimmigrant Visa site for more information about nonimmigrant visas. If you think you may qualify for an emergency appointment or for the Interview Waiver Program, please visit US Travel Docs for more information on how to apply.

We look forward to the time when we can safely resume the full range of Consular services. Until then, we wish everyone a safe and healthy year.
