Nancy Corbett is the U.S. Consulate in Alexandria’s Consul General. She arrived in Alexandria in August 2017. A career Foreign Service officer with the U.S. Department of State, Nancy previously served as Principal Officer in Hamburg, Germany from 2013 to 2016. Prior to that she was posted for two years to Afghanistan, first as Cultural Affairs Officer in Kabul, then as Regional Public Diplomacy Officer at U.S. Consulate Mazar-e Sharif. She has served three tours in China. Nancy also served in Public Diplomacy positions in Baghdad, Iraq and Almaty, Kazakhstan, and held consular positions in Nigeria, Tokyo, and Belarus.
Nancy has a BA in Comparative Literature from the University of California at Berkeley and a JD from Santa Clara University. She was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zaire from 1980 to 1982. Her husband, Jim Boughner, is the Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo.
