The U.S. Embassy continues to closely monitor the security situation in Egypt. The Embassy urges U.S. citizens to be alert, exercise good judgment, and follow good security practices everywhere in the country. U.S. citizens should avoid travel outside metropolitan Cairo and Alexandria and major tourist and resort areas. U.S. Embassy personnel are prohibited from traveling in the Sinai Peninsula outside the resort city of Sharm El Sheikh or anywhere in Egypt’s Western desert region.
