Cairo – U.S. Central Command’s Director for Strategy, Plans, and Policy Major General Scott Benedict visited Egypt, March 17-19. During his visit, MajGen Benedict met with senior Egyptian officials including Assistant Minster of Defense of Foreign Relations Major General Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian Armament Authority Director, MG Osama Ezzat, and visited Inshas Air Force Base in Sharqeya Governorate.
In his meetings with senior Egyptian military officials. Maj Gen Benedict discussed shared security concerns and agreed that the strategic nature of the U.S.-Egypt defense relationship makes it critical for regional security and stability.
Maj. Gen. Benedict noted, “We work closely with our strategic partner Egypt on a number of fronts, from counter-terrorism to the security of the Suez. I appreciated the opportunity to meet with Egyptian officials to advance progress on our shared strategic goals.”
During the visit, Maj. Gen. Benedict also met with Ambassador Cohen and other members of the U.S. embassy staff.
