The ACS Unit is open to the public Sunday-Wednesday from 09:00-12:00, except for Thursdays. The ACS Unit is closed to the public on Thursdays and on American and Egyptian holidays.
To better serve customers and reduce waiting times, you must Schedule an Online Appointment for all non-emergency services before visiting the ACS Unit. To apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad you must email CRBAcairo@state.gov. Please follow this link: Eligibility for a CRBA
Please show up to your appointment on time. Applicants who are more than 15 minutes late to their appointments will be turned away and told to make another appointment. Applicants who are more than 30 minutes early for their appointments will have to wait until their scheduled time to be seen. No exceptions are made.
If you have a question about non-emergency services like the status of a passport application or Social Security benefits, please send an email to the ACS Unit at CONSULARCAIROACS@STATE.GOV. The email should include your name, passport number, phone number, and question. The ACS Unit will respond to your email enquiry within 48 business hours.
The ACS Unit DOES NOT answer ANY telephone calls about non-emergency services such as Social Security Benefits, the status of passport applications, or the status of Consular Report of Birth Abroad applications. Phone calls not deemed an emergency by the ACS Unit will be disconnected.
