ALEXANDRIA – Experts from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)/Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) met with Egyptian counterparts in Alexandria last week to exchange knowledge and explore best practices in combating fraudulent document proliferation. HSI experts showcased for the first time in Egypt the Forensic Laboratory (FL) archive, which is the only U.S. crime laboratory specializing in the scientific authentication and research of travel and identity documents and related issues. The FL is accredited by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors and Laboratory Accreditation Board.

“This training and joint consultation reflects the strong and enduring security partnership the United States enjoys with Egypt,” said U.S. Embassy Cairo’s Deputy Chief of Mission Dorothy Shea, who visited the gathering of U.S. and Egyptian experts. “The knowledge shared between our two nations’ premier customs enforcement and investigation units, and the joint inspection of documents with experts from the Forensic Laboratory, will make both our peoples safer and our borders more secure.”
