Questions about renewing your U.S. tourist visa? Use our Visa Services Navigator to get answers to the most frequently asked questions.
If you were previously issued a U.S. tourist visa that expired in the past 48 months (4 years), you can apply to renew your visa without an interview, regardless of your age.
To apply to renew your tourist visa, please visit USTravelDocs.com and login to the online applicant system to create a profile and pay the visa application (“MRV”) fee. Once logged in, choose “Schedule appointment.” Appointments are usually opened on Sunday morning at 8:00am (or Monday if there is a holiday). If you are unable to find an Interview Waiver appointment, please try again the following Sunday morning at 8:00am.
As you go through the online process, you will answer questions that evaluate your eligibility to apply for a visa without an interview. Please note that going through this process to “schedule an appointment” simply confirms your eligibility to apply for a visa without an interview, and then reserves your place in the Embassy’s visa processing queue. After you have scheduled an appointment, print your confirmation letter, and drop off the letter and your passport at SLS in Dokki.
Once you have succeeded in scheduling your appointment, you do not need to come to the Embassy during your appointment time and you do not need to wait for your appointment date to go ahead and mail your passport and confirmation letter.
Note: applicants applying for a U.S. tourist visa through the Interview Waiver Program should plan to be without their passport for up to six weeks. In most cases, applications are processed in less than six weeks, but the expedited timeline is not guaranteed.
