Interview Waiver Eligibility

Questions about renewing your U.S. tourist visa?  Use our Visa Services Navigator to get answers to the most frequently asked questions.

If you were previously issued a U.S. tourist visa that expired in the past 48 months (4 years), you can apply to renew your visa without an interview, regardless of your age.

To apply to renew your tourist visa, please visit USTravelDocs.com and login to the online applicant system to create a profile and pay the visa application (“MRV”) fee. Once logged in, choose “Schedule appointment.”

As you go through the online process, you will answer questions that evaluate your eligibility to apply for a visa without an interview.  If you are eligible to apply for a visa without an interview, the system will direct you to print your confirmation letter and drop off the letter and your passport at SLS in Dokki.

Once you have submitted your letter and passport, you do not need to come to the Embassy for an interview, unless a Consular Officer determined they can better assess your qualifications via interview. In which case, you will be contacted by the Embassy with instructions on how to schedule an appointment.

Note: applicants applying for a U.S. tourist visa through the Interview Waiver Program should plan to be without their passport for up to six weeks. In most cases, applications are processed in less than six weeks, but the expedited timeline is not guaranteed.
